Known as India's largest of its kind "Rose Garden" of Chandigarh was set up in 1967 with the support of
Chandigarh's first Chief Commissioner, late Dr M S Randhawa. Rose Garden is also known as Dr. Zakir rose garden
was named in honour of India's former President, Zakir Hussain.
Rose Garden stands proudly with 17,000 plants of 1,600 varieties of roses which covers up to 27 Acres of place of Chandigarh.
Rose Garden has also planted medicinal trees like bel, bahera, harar, camphor and yellow gulmohar.
Rose garden is the venue of the annual Festival of Gardens, an event listed on the national calendar of fairs
and festivals Chandigarh. This is one of the main cultural events of Chandigarh drawing thousands of visitors.
